Abstract: My experience in rural development which spans more than two decades has oscillated between various roles that have veered towards transformative research and advocacy. These roles availed me the opportunity to interact with various development actors in government and NGOs, and research institutions in Zimbabwe. This was augmented by extensive university teaching and research contacts in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Despite the usually tight schedules associated with such engagements, I occasionally participated in community development projects and managed international research projects.
