Abstract: This book chapter analyzes the healthcare challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa and assesses the possibility of integrating disruptive emerging technologies in the sector to ameliorate the challenges in a developing context. The writer reviewed the literature on health and emerging technologies used in the healthcare sector to understand the benefits and challenges of these technologies. The research then collected empirical data in Zimbabwe to situate the work in a developing context. A total of 15 key informants including ICT experts and researchers, healthcare physicians, hospital administrators, researchers, and policymakers were interviewed. The results showed that the issue of emerging technologies in health is a budding issue in Zimbabwe and is mainly confined to private health services. The chapter concluded with the proposal for a framework that was reviewed and recommended by experts.
