Abstract: The major purpose of this study, therefore, was to investigate teachers' perceptions and current practices of the constructivist teaching approach as well as the major challenges that hinder its implementation in TTD classrooms in secondary schools in Umzingwane district, cluster 11. To attain this purpose, the case study research design was employed. The population of the study consisted of eight TTD teachers from four secondary in Umzingwane district, cluster 11 secondary schools. The sample was made up of four TTD teachers (one from each school) selected using the purposive sampling technique. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews and observations. Descriptive statistics and the thematic approach were used to analyze the collected data. The results of the study revealed that TTD teachers have positive perceptions of the constructivist teaching approach. In spite of their good perceptions, their practices of constructivist teaching approach were low. Among the major factors affecting the effective implementation of constructivist teaching approach were teachers’ lack of knowledge about constructivism, large class sizes, inadequate teaching and learning materials, inadequate infrastructure (TTD laboratory, furniture etc.), inadequate teaching equipment, long syllabus and lack of time. From the findings of this study, it is possible to conclude that teachers were positively perceived the constructivist teaching approach and it was inadequately practiced. The study recommends that TTD teachers should be provided with resources that would enable them teach using constructivist strategies as well as to forestall this, in-service and professional development programmes should continually be organized for teachers to keep them abreast of constructivist strategies</description>

Abstract: The study sought to explore the challenges faced by five primary schools in Chinhoyi Urban Cluster, Makonde District in implementing e-learning during the covid-19 pandemic. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The sample included twenty-five teachers and five school heads from the five primary schools in the cluster. This was because these are the ones who are at the frontline when it comes to e-learning and they have knowledge on the challenges faced in the implementation of it. Random sampling procedures were used to sample out teachers from the study area as the respondents in the study. The cluster has a total of ten primary schools and twenty-five teachers and five school heads from the five selected schools were selected using random sampling technique. The study adopted a survey design in which questionnaires were distributed to teachers and interviews were done with heads of the five primary schools in Chinhoyi Urban Cluster. Twenty-five questionnaires were distributed to the teachers in five primary schools of Chinhoyi Urban Cluster. The researcher also conducted interviews with five heads of schools in the cluster. Both secondary and primary data sources were used to gather data. The research findings revealed that the major challenge of e-learning in schools is the shortage of resources. The study recommended that the parents should support their children in e-learning, the schools should avail enough resources for e-learning, teachers should have a positive attitude towards the implementation of e-learning and the learners should be motivated to learn using e-learning platforms. Further study should be conducted on designing user-friendly e-learning platforms.</description>

Abstract: The study sought to look at issues pertaining to the adequacy of Information and Communication Technology resources (ICT) in primary schools in the Mbare Hatfield District, Cluster 16. The ICT resources looked at included computers, projectors, web resources, Learning management software, wireless technologies, wired technologies, video conferencing just to mention a few. It further looked at the aspect of utilization of those ICT resources to assess whether effective teaching and learning was taking place in the learning area of ICT which is now mandatory at primary level and now a testable area in the ZIMSEC public examinations. It looked into issues pertaining to lesson preparations, lesson delivery, and research, sending and returning of pupils’ assignments.  The research delved into the challenges that caused a hindrance in the ICT resource utilization in schools in Mbare Hatfield Cluster16. The findings of the research were tabulated and studied. Recommendations were drawn up on adequacy and utilization on the schools under study in general to aid in the improving of the effective teaching of ICT using the ICT resources required. Abstract: Since time immemorial the teacher has been burdened with too many activities yet expected to perform optimally. The effect of burden on the classroom teacher is drastic reduction in teacher-leaner contact time. The manual design and maintenance of class record books by the teacher has always been a taxing and time intensive process. The manual system of collecting and processing information has been largely ununiform and of less meaningful consequences to the teaching process. The process has been riddled with inconsistencies, data redundance, exposure to confidentiality violations, fragmentation of records and numerous other ills associated with the manual information systems. However, albeit the importance of data in this day and age, there has never been any initiative to transform the class record books processing. At Sutton Mine Primary School, there are 12 qualified teachers who are also not spared by the scourge of record books generating and maintenance. It was found out that on average, a teacher spends at least a week developing class record books for each new year. This amount of time multiplied by 12 will be 24 weeks of wasted valuable teaching time or 400 learners deprived of two weeks of uninterrupted learning. Realising this injustice, the purpose for this study therefore is to offer a modern way to revolutionise the class record system by leveraging on technological advancements to computerise the process. An integrated class records system which is electronic in nature is being suggested as the solution to problems associated with manual class records keeping. This system is specifically for the teacher and may be describe as transaction processing system for the operational level of the school system. Thus, the project takes the form of an action research because it basically involves identifying a problem and attempting to offer a solution for it. The Sutton Mine Primary School has a stuff compliment of 12 from which a sample of 8 teachers was taken for the data creation or acquisition process. At data aggregation level the data collected was consolidate before it was analysed in the requirements specification phase of the project. The data analysis then paved the way for the design phase before the actual development took place. The solution, termed Integrated Class Records System (InClaRS) was finally developed and put to different test scenarios. After passing the software acid test, the system was finally deployed pending maintenance and further development. It was sufficiently conclusive that the solution offered did achieved its intended purpose.</description>
