Editors: Hugh Mangeya; Isaac Mhute; Ernest Jakaza
Abstract: Strategic communication is a pre-requisite for the achievement of organisational goals, and an effective strategic communication plan is vital for organisational success. However, systems and models dominant in the West may not necessarily be best suited for the sub-Saharan Africa reality, where many organisations lack adequate financial resources to develop and implement an effective strategic communication plan.
This book examines current practices in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the challenges faced and the intersection with culture. It packages inspiring debates, experiences and insights relating to strategic communication in all types of institutions, including private and public sector organisations, governmental organisations and NGOs, political parties as well as social movements in the sub-Saharan context. It explores how culture is integral to the attainment of strategic communication goals, and diverse case studies across socio-economic contexts offer insights into the successes of organisations across Africa, including Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Lesotho and Nigeria.
This unique edited collection is a valuable resource for worldwide scholars, researchers and students of strategic communication and organisational studies, as well as related fields including public relations, advertising, political and health communication and international studies.2021-12-24T00:00:00ZMultidisciplinary Knowledge Production and Research Methods in Sub-Saharan Africa: Language, Literature and Religionhttps://cris.library.msu.ac.zw//handle/11408/58252023-09-22T09:22:44Z2023-08-25T00:00:00ZTitle: Multidisciplinary Knowledge Production and Research Methods in Sub-Saharan Africa: Language, Literature and Religion
Editors: Tobias Marevesa; Ernest Jakaza; Esther Mavengano
Abstract: This book, Multidisciplinary Knowledge Production and Research Methods in Sub-Saharan Africa: Language, Literature and Religion, contributes to the polemical conversations about existing architectures of knowledge and research practices in postcolonial sub-Saharan Africa. It creates an academic platform for multi-interdisciplinary research that brings to the fore inspiring efforts to break away from long-standing disciplinary bordering thinking and practices in modern-day sub-Saharan Africa. This distinctive edited collection is a valuable resource for scholars, researchers and students of multi-interdisciplinary research across the globe. The volume also promotes wide-ranging research focused on how to address complexities which hamper the promise of multi-interdisciplinary research in contemporary sub-Saharan African contexts. It provides thought-provoking perspectives on academic conversations about the uniqueness of embracing multidisciplinary research. The traditional methods of interpretation are challenged by the radical emerging demand to shift from a mono-disciplinary thinking to a cross-disciplinary epistemic endeavour in order to successfully address unfolding problematic realities that demand the pursuit of novel heuristic terrains.2023-08-25T00:00:00ZZimbabwe in the Post-COVID-19 Era: Reflections, Lessons, and the Future of Public Healthhttps://cris.library.msu.ac.zw//handle/11408/57742023-09-05T08:12:50Z2023-07-14T00:00:00ZTitle: Zimbabwe in the Post-COVID-19 Era: Reflections, Lessons, and the Future of Public Health
Editors: Esther Mavengano; Tobias Marevesa; Ernest Jakaza
Abstract: This comprehensive book brings together reflections, lessons and insights relating to the post Covid-19 era in Zimbabwe.
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has immensely affected all facets of humanity globally. Its impact on Zimbabwe is evident through its effect on socio-economic and education systems, politics, religion, infrastructural development, and health delivery systems. This book provides scholarly introspections into the lessons drawn from the pandemic in an effort to re-imagine the future possibilities of public health in Zimbabwe and beyond. Providing a platform for research that seeks to re-think global public health matters from a Decolonial school of thought, the book asks questions such as: What is the role of religion, linguistics, communication, education, economics, politics, and science in preparing Zimbabwe for possible future pandemics? How can the lessons drawn from the pandemic inform scholars to re-imagine the future trajectories of the country in the various domains? How can researchers evaluate the power and economic dialectics of COVID-19, navigate the tumultuous challenges generated, and come up with appropriate systems for future pandemics?
Offering a realistic picture of the post COVID-19 era in Zimbabwe, the book will be a key resource to students and researchers across the fields of political communication, science communication, decolonial discourse, language and culture, as well as African Studies more broadly.2023-07-14T00:00:00ZArgumentation and Appraisal in Parliamentary DiscourseErnest Jakazahttps://cris.library.msu.ac.zw//handle/11408/56782023-06-02T10:00:30Z2019-04-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Argumentation and Appraisal in Parliamentary Discourse
Authors: Ernest Jakaza
Abstract: Political debates have reached unprecedented levels of interest around the globe as more
individuals begin to comprehend government proceedings and discourse. Utilizing this
knowledge, individuals are becoming attentive to political language, but they lack information on
the motivation behind it.
Argumentation and Appraisal in Parliamentary Discourse seeks to interrogate the
argumentation practices and appraisal forms realized in parliamentary discourse on various
topics. While highlighting topics that include legislative immunity, political rivalry, and
language evolution, it features crucial discourse-pragmatic research on parliamentary
proceedings from various parliamentary settings. This book is recommended for linguists,
politicians, professionals, and researchers working in the fields of discourse analysis, linguistics,
politics, communication sciences, sociology, and conversational analysis.2019-04-01T00:00:00ZErnest Jakaza
