Abstract: This section serves to introduce the reader to the study and analysis of the operational challenges faced by foreign investment companies on enhancing productivity. A case of Ayan trading. The main anchor to the study analyses the relationship between the challenges faced by the foreign companies and the effect to decision making and performance. The chapter gives a preview outline of the sections and facets to be covered and the research framework. The section will focus on the background of the study owing to an overview of previous works researched and give a problem statement. The section will disintegrate to more specific problem areas which will prompt the objectives of the study that is the reason for embarking on such as research. Scope of the study along with limitations and delimitations will also be highlighted in the section. The section will also give a problem statement, research questions, statement of hypothesis and further highlights the significance of the study along with the assumptions made during the study. Definitions of the important terms will also be put forward and conclude the study by summarizing the organisation of the study.</summary>

Abstract: This research sought to evaluate the customer retention strategies used in the hotel industry from (2010-2016). The study was motivated by the persistent loss of customers at Flamboyant Hotel despite its implementation of customer retention strategies. The research aimed at determining the importance of customer retention management practises of Flamboyant Hotel. The study also focused on deriving the factors which influence the choice of customer retention strategies. Furthermore the research tried to determine the challenges faced in implanting customer retention strategies. The research focused on the major theories of customer retention which are the relationship commitment model, holistic approach and the conversion model. The concept of customer attrition was also discussed in the study. Descriptive research method was used in order to gain a better understanding of the problem at hand which is customer loss at the hotel. Questionnaires and Interviews were used as data collection instruments. A sample size of 150 customers, 5 managers and 20 employees was used. The researcher used tables in data presentation and inductive technique was used as a data analysis tool. The findings indicated that if a company effectively implements customer retention strategies, its customer loyalty will be enhanced. However failure to effectively implement customer retention strategies leads to customer loss. The study findings also illustrated that the company was failing to effectively implement retention strategies because of the cost that is brought about by implementing retention strategies. Furthermore customers were dissatisfied the hotel’s service, ambiance and service recovery systems.</summary>

    <summary type="text">Title: An assessment of the effectiveness of operational risk management practises at PSMI Westend Hospital.

Abstract: The study was motivated by persistent operational risk exposures which could be pointed in daily operations at PSMI Westend Hospital and challenges have led to failed quality services and smooth running of operations in the organisation. The purpose of the study was to assess the effectiveness of operational risk practices at the organisation and to establish alternatives which can be used to mitigate and take control of the operational risk exposure the organisation is facing. The research explored literature for enhancing an understanding on the categories, measures, factors and management strategies of operational risks. The study took descriptive research design. Data was collected using only self-administered questionnaire thus relying on the quantitative nature of research study. Data analysis was conducted by using Microsoft office suit to generate descriptive and inferential statistics. The research findings of the study indicated that weak operational risk management strategies were being used to management the risk exposures which were affecting the organisation and its service provision as so many challenges were heighted in the study. Alternative strategies on management of risks which arose due to failed process, human error and disruptions of information systems which the organisation uses were also suggested in the study. Based on the findings of the research it was concluded that the organisation should invest in technologies that assist in the detection and monitoring of operational risks, setting of capital reserves which are used to manage operational risks as when they occur and provide refresher courses to all staff such that management of operational risk cannot be a management issues only but rather every staff member’s business.</summary>
